NoticeOn Tuesday, April 3, 2008 Governor Martin O'Malley signed into law SB218/HB361 which drastically changes the way those who wish to help homeowners in foreclosure conduct business. The measure was submitted as emergency legislation which took effect the day Governor O'Malley signed it. Therefore, there has been no time allotted for attorneys to make recommendations on how to comply with the law. As a result, this association has recommended to its members that they not provide foreclosure consulting services to owner occupants until our attorneys can provide guidance on how to provide services while complying with this new law. Until this happens, we recommend the following resources for you if you are a homeowner facing foreclosure of your primary residence: HUD Approved Counselling Agencies Agencies Recommended By The Maryland Attorney General St. Ambrose Maryland HOPE If you are facing foreclosure of a property that is vacant, an investment property, or otherwise not occupied by you, your spouse, or your former spouse, please contact a foreclosure consultant by clicking on [find a foreclosure consultant] above. Our members are still the most honest, ethical, and best foreclosure consultants in the industry. Thank you for your interest, patience, and understanding. We apologize for any inconvenience these changes may cause you. MAPFC Administration |
